King Kong Trailer

The trailer for Peter Jackson's King Kong has been posted on the movie's official site. The film stars Jack Black,  Adrien Brody and Naomi Watts, as the damsel in distress . The heart of the action takes place on Skull Island, where prehistoric beasts and bugs battle, and an enormous monkey is running wild on the uncharted island. The scenes from the trailer look phenomenal and I can't wait to see this one.

King Kong is scheduled to be released on December 14.

Sean Penn as...The Joker??

Rumours are running wild as to who will play The Joker  in the next Batman film. Several Internet gossip sites are reporting that Sean Penn might be Director Chris Nolan's number one choice for the role. Sean is apparently unsure about 'taking' his buddy Jack Nicholson's role. Currently there are four names being bandied about as Joker contenders  - Crispin Glover, Lachy Hulme, Paul Bettany and now Penn.  I'd love to see Crispin Glover as The Joker but It can only be a matter of time before we hear for sure who'll portray the white-faced, green-haired menace to Gotham.

Money-back guarantee for Cinderella Man

Reuters reports that in a rare marketing ploy, the No. 2 U.S. movie theater chain, AMC Entertainment, is offering a money-back guarantee for boxing picture "Cinderella Man," hoping to boost interest in the struggling film amid a record box-office slump. Advertisements offering on-the-spot refunds to AMC patrons unhappy with the film began running on June 24 in newspapers and on the exhibitor's Web site (www.amctheaters.com).

The major studios and theater owners have now posted 18 straight weekends of year-to-year declines in ticket sales, the longest slump since analysts began keeping detailed box office tallies. Russell Crowe stars in "Cinderella Man" as the Depression-era boxing hero Jim Braddock, "Cinderella Man" has received generally favorable reviews but fallen flat at the box office. The movie, which cost a reported $88 million US to make, opened in fourth place the weekend of June 3-5 and has grossed a lackluster $49.8 million US through its fourth weekend.

The Darth Side

While researching my article on the Star Wars series, I discovered a very funny site called The Darth Side: Memoirs of a Monster. It is the fictional journal of Darth Vader and takes a very satirical look at events in the Star Wars universe.

Work on Simpsons film begins

A spokesperson for the popular cartoon series revealed to MTV.com that the wheels have finally begun turning on a process that will bring Springfield's yellow-skinned denizens to the big screen. The show's principal voice actors — including Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Nancy Cartwright as Bart and Hank Azaria as downtrodden drink dispenser Moe Szyslak — assembled recently under the watchful gaze of series creator Matt Groening for one of the first steps in creating a movie version of the hit show.

"They did do the script read, that is correct," "Simpsons" rep Antonia Kaughman said, addressing statements made by Cartwright that the film was moving forward. "It was all of our six principal actors, and then we have a couple secondary actors, and they do all of Springfield — over 100 characters amongst them." Loyal fans of the series have enjoyed superstar cameos ranging from Michael Jackson to 50 Cent, but no celebrities were present at the script read. "I think if there was going to be guest stars, that would come way down the line," Kaughman insisted. "They'll add them later."

McGregor to Play Four Roles in One Film

Variety reports that Ewan McGregor has committed to his next four movie roles, all in a single film - an untitled British comedy written and to be directed by fellow Scot Peter Capaldi. In the period film within a period film, McGregor will play a 1930s Hollywood star, his stand-in and both of the 18th-century characters they play in the movie they're shooting. Capaldi's multi-layered script deals with an epic film being shot in the 1930s about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, in which Scottish forces loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to overthrow their English rulers. When the star goes missing, the producers trick an unassuming extra into filling his shoes, with surprising results.
